• Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether (EGBE): Also known as 2-Butoxyethanol, this caustic biochemical may trigger a myriad of health risks, including eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation, and even burns if improperly handled. • Naphthalene: This chemical (also recognized as antimite or naphthalin) is the bi-product of coal tar, and is commonly associated as the key ingredient in mothballs. The EPA has determined Naphthalene harmful to the central nervous system of humans and recognized as a carcinogen.
• Perchloroethylene (i.e., “PERC”): This non-flammable, colorless liquid is commonly utilized throughout the cleaning industry and may elicit a number of adverse side-effects, including dizziness, fatigue and even nausea if inhaled or accidentally ingested. According to the CDC (The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), this toxic solvent has been linked to liver and kidney damage.
