Most rug shops in the city just hose your rug down with water and soap, then send it back. We don't work like that. When you drop your rug at our plant, we sit with it. We check the fibers, the dye, the backing, the age, the stains. Then we wash it by hand the way it was made to be washed. No machine spinning, no rough scrubbing, no chemicals that smell like a hospital. You bring it in, we treat it like our own. That's it. Our full drop off area rug cleaning service is built around this.
Every rug gets washed by hand in our shop. We use soft brushes and clean water. No spinning drums that break the knots or pull the fringe loose.
We clean with organic, plant-based soap. Safe for kids, pets, and people with allergies. No bleach, no ammonia, no chemical smell when you get it back.
Before water touches your rug, we test a corner for color bleed. This step alone saves a lot of rugs. Many shops skip it. We never do.
We dry your rug flat on the floor with fans running. Slow drying stops shrinking, curling, and that musty smell rugs get when they dry too fast or hung up.
People bring us all kinds of rugs. Some are 80 years old from a grandmother. Some are new from a store last month. Every rug is different so every wash is different.
Hand-knotted, natural dyes, old wool. We wash these the slowest. See our Persian rug cleaning page for more.
Chinese, Indian, Turkish, Pakistani. Each one needs its own wash method. Read about Oriental rug cleaning.
Wool holds dirt deep. We use cool water and soft soap to lift it without felting. More on wool rug cleaning here.
Silk is the most delicate. We hand wash with extra care, no agitation. Details on our silk rug cleaning page.
Old rugs need a soft touch. We handle antique rugs and handmade rugs with the same care we'd give a museum piece.
Long fibers trap dust, food, hair. We deep wash shag rugs and flokati rugs from the base up.
Bringing your rug to us is the cheapest way to get it deep cleaned. Here's what comes with every drop off:
We've cleaned thousands of rugs at our NYC plant. The pictures below are real jobs from real customers, no filters, no fake photos, just rugs that came in dirty and went home clean.

Look, you don't hand over a $5,000 Persian rug to just anyone. We know that. That's why we still wash every rug by hand at our own plant. No subcontractors, no rush jobs, no shortcuts. Same family, same shop, same way of doing things for over 25 years. Try us once and you'll see why people keep coming back. First-time customers get $30 off any drop off rug cleaning over $150. When you drop a rug at our shop, here's exactly what happens to it before it comes back home with you.
Step 1
We open the rug flat and check fibers, dye, backing, stains, and any weak spots.
Step 2
The rug goes through a slow dusting machine that shakes out years of dry dirt.
Step 3
We test a small corner with water to make sure no colors will run.
Step 4
Stains, pet spots, and dark spots get hit with organic spotters first.
Step 5
Soft brushes, cool water, plant-based soap. Worked in by hand, front and back.
Step 6
We rinse the whole rug with fresh water until soap is fully gone.
Step 7
Rug dries flat on our shop floor with big fans, never hung up.
Step 8
We brush the pile back into its original direction so it looks fresh.
You don't have to take our word for it. Real customers from across NYC, Long Island, and Westchester have left honest reviews on Google, Yelp, and our own page. Most say the same thing — their rug came back looking like new and the price stayed the same as the quote.
Our shop sits in the heart of the city, but we serve the whole metro area for drop off and pickup.
From Park Slope to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Carpet Cleaning customers use our free pickup. Check the Brooklyn area rug cleaning page.
We don't only do drop off. If you need on-site work or other rug types, we have a service for it.
For rugs you can't roll up easily, we send a team to your home. See area rug cleaning for in-home service across NYC.
Delicate fibers need their own method. Our wool rug cleaning and silk rug cleaning pages explain our hand wash steps for both.
Old hand-knotted rugs are our favorite. Read our Persian rug cleaning and Oriental rug cleaning service pages.
Cat or dog accident on the rug? We treat it at the source with enzymes. See pet stain removal and odor removal.
You can drop off any rug at our plant. We serve all five boroughs and offer free pickup across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and Westchester.
Drop off rug cleaning starts at $79. Final price depends on size, fiber type, and condition. We give a free quote after we inspect your rug.
Most rugs are ready in 5 to 7 business days. Larger or heavily soiled rugs may take 7 to 10 days because they need extra drying time.
